Who should be the AHSAA Super 7 football player of the week?

The 2023 AHSAA Super 7 produced a lot of standout performances on every level at Alabama’s Bryant-Denny Stadium.

Here’s a chance to vote for your favorite performance of the week.

Voting will close Wednesday morning and the winner will be announced on AL.com Thursday.

Here are the candidates for Super 7 Player of the Week:

Logan Anderson, Fyffe: The junior running back had 34 carries for 256 yards and four touchdowns in the Class 2A title game and set the Fyffe single-season rushing record with 265 carries for 2,864 yards and 45 touchdowns. He also had six tackles (one for a loss) on defense.

Cam Coleman, Central-Phenix City: The Auburn commit caught five passes for 143 yards and a key 73-yard touchdown in the Red Devils’ Class 7A championship win over Thompson.

Ja’Kavien Collins, Leroy: The sophomore running back took over the load for his injured cousin, Malik Howell, who was hurt last week against Elba, and finished with 15 carries for 96 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winning score with 2:01 remaining in the game.

Damien Gatson, Mobile Christian: A South Alabama baseball commit, Gatson completed 15-of-20 passes against Madison Academy for 298 yards and five touchdowns in the Class 3A game.

KJ Lacey, Saraland: The Texas commit completed 26-of-38 passes for 389 yards and a pair of touchdowns in Friday’s loss to Clay-Chalkville.

Jaylen Mbakwe, Clay-Chalkville: The Alabama commit led his team to a Class 6A upset of No. 1 Saraland. He finished with 130 yards rushing and three TDs on 26 carries and was 9-of-17 passing for 152 yards and a score. He also played defense on Saraland’s final drive.

Caleb McCreary, Montgomery Catholic: The senior Troy commit ran 22 times for 197 yards and added 60 yards passing while completing 9-of-14 as the Knights won their first state football title.

Ronnie Royal, Gulf Shores: Ronnie Royal rushed for 188 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries and made a spectacular, 1-handed interception on defense to stop a Ramsay drive in the Class 5A title game.

Ryan Williams, Saraland: The reigning Mr. Football winner caught 11 passes for 232 yards and two scores, ran for 27 yards on eight carries and a TD and returned the opening kickoff of the second half 86 yards for a TD in Friday night’s loss to Saraland.
