Federal authorities are investigating a plane crash that happened Friday in Mobile County.

A Cessna 150 plan crashed in the Mobile River just east of Mt. Vernon around 11 a.m., according to Kendra R. McKinney, a senior trooper with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

The state police did not release details about how many people were on board.

McKinney said state police turned over the investigation to the Federal Aviation Administration.
