Basketball roundup: Prattville Christian girls whip Prattville in county tourney
Three-time defending state champion Prattville Christian coasted into the finals of the Autauga County Tournament with a 51-39 win over Prattville on Thursday at Autaugaville. The Panthers will meet Marbury for the title on Friday at 7.
Avery Rogers led Prattville Christian (8-1) with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Jenna McClendon added 18 points and 8 rebounds in the win. Leah Cate Wilson hauled in 14 rebounds and Kayden Carr had a double-double with 10 rebounds and 10 assists.
St. James handed Prattville Christian its first loss of the season on Tuesday, beating the Panthers 46-39 on the road.
Jenna McClendon led Prattville Christian with 13 points and 16 rebounds. Kayden Carr scored 12 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

Georgiana 64, Opp 21
The Panthers improved to 4-3 and advanced to the championship game of the Georgiana Christmas Clash Tournament against Greenville with the win on Thursday. The title game is set for today.
Georgiana had two players notch double-doubles with Nyeashia Thomas scoring 18 points with 12 rebounds and 5 blocks. Lillie Boggan scored 16 points with 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals.
Grace Bradley scored 14 for the winners and Tarnasia McMeans added 11.
Montgomery Academy 40, Tallassee 34
Caroline Waller led the Eagles with 12 points as Montgomery Academy picked up the win at home on Monday. Kirsten Daniel had 10 points with 7 rebounds and Kaci Armistead had 7 steals.
Brantley 56, McKenzie 20
Coco Stamps led the Bulldogs in the home win on Tuesday with 16 points and 7 steals. Mary Driggers had a double-double for Brantley (5-2) with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Alex Grimes added 10 points and had 8 rebounds in the win.
On Monday, Brantley beat Goshen 45-23 on the road. Myia Mount had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds for Brantley. Grimes was the leading scorer for the winners with 11 points. Driggers had 11 rebounds to go with 8 points.
Holtville 48, B.T. Washington Magnet 19
The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 with the win at home over Booker T. Washington Magnet of Montgomery.
Junior Ana Brown led Holtville with her first double-double, pouring in 27 points with 11 steals and 6 assists. Brown is averaging 15.3 points per game this season.
Lakeside 60, Evangel 31
The Chiefs improved to 5-4 as Sophie Seaborn scored 23 points and had 5 steals. Chloe Helms scored 18 points with 5 steals, 4 rebounds and 3 assits.
Freshman Addison Eriksen recorded a double-double with 11 points, 18 rebounds and had 8 blocked shots.
Lee-Scott 54, Lakeside 46
Chloe Helms scored 16 points to lead Lakeside in the home loss in Eufaula on Monday. Sophie Seaborn scored 12 points, hitting 6-of-8 free throws, and had 5 rebounds, 4 steals and 2 assists.
Allosen Eriksen had a double-double for the Chiefs in the loss with 11 rebounds, 10 rebounds and 2 steals.
MOBILE/COASTAL ALABAMA
UMS-Wright 61, Mobile Christian 42
Days after winning a state championship in the 50-meter freestyle and another in the medley relay in the AHSAA Swimming and Diving Championships, junior Rhea Mostellar scored a career high 14 points to help UMS-Wright to its fourth straight win at Mobile Christian. The Bulldogs improved to 9-3 on the season.
Rhea’s twin, Ellie Mostellar, scored 12 points to go with 5 assists and 4 steals. It was Ellie’s fourth double-figure outing of the year.
Ansleigh Ishee added 13 points in the win.
The Bulldogs closed out a 10-game road streak with the win and will host Cottage Hill on Friday.
Fairhope 66, Faith Academy 27
Payton Frazer led Fairhope, scoring 13 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. Libby Rogers also scored 13 points on Tuesday as the Pirates improved to 5-5 on the year.
Murphy Creel had 7 assists for Fairhope.
Alma Bryant 64, Spanish Fort 39
The Hurricanes picked up the win on the road on Monday at Spanish Fort.
Mari-Margret Grayson and Madi-Marie Grayson poured in 25 points each for Alma Bryant (5-5) in the rout.
Gulf Shores 51, Bayside Academy 25
The Dolphins improved to 10-1 on the year, jumping to a 23-8 first-quarter lead and coasting past Bayside at home on Tuesday.
Maya Griffin, Maggie Myers and Keyona Royal all had 9 points in the win. Griffin added 7 steals for Gulf Shores.
Misty Smith and Blakely Robbins had 10 points each for Bayside.
Gulf Shores will host Faith Academy on Monday.
HUNTSVILLE/TENNESSEE VALLEY
Hazel Green 69, Lee-Huntsville 54
Six-time defending Class 6A Hazel Green jumped to a 21-6 first-quarter lead, was up 38-20 at the half and carried a 56-32 margin into the final quarter at home on Tuesday.
Amiya Reedus led the Trojans with 16 points. Leah Brooks had 15 for Hazel Green.
Lamiya Batimba had a double-double for Lee with 11 points and 11 rebounds.
Huntsville 41, Ramsay 37
The Crimson Panthers improved to 7-3 with the win on the road on Tuesday. Huntsville hit 10-of-13 free throws on the night.
Virginia Hawkins scored 16 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. Abby Johnson scored 13 with 7 rebounds. Camryn Jones had 8 points with 3 assists and a timely steal with less than 3 minutes remaining in the game.
Huntsville will host Oak Mountain on Monday.
Sparkman 62, Muscle Shoals 45
The Senators improved to 7-3 on the year with the road win on Tuesday.
Sophomores Jurnee Moore, Carmin Rice and Hannah Horton led the way for Sparkman. Moore scored 14 while Rice and Horton had 11 points each.
The Senators open area play at Grissom on Friday.
Priceville 62, East Lawrence 37
The Bulldogs pulled away with a huge second quarter to earn the road win at East Lawrence in Trinity. After holding a 19-17 first-quarter edge, Priceville outscored the Eagles 16-2 in the second period to take an insurmountable lead.
Abby Langlois led the winners with 26 points and 8 rebounds. Lillyan Bloodworth scored 13 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had 5 assists for Priceville (5-4). Gracin Prater had 6 assists, 4 rebounds and 3 steals.
Savannah Suggs led East Lawrence with 13 points.
West Morgan 45, Danville 28
The Rebels picked up the home win on Monday over Danville.
Adily Alberti led Danville with 9 points and 5 rebounds. Madalyn McCreless had 5 rebounds and 3 blocks to go with her 6 points. Ella Kate Tidwell also had 5 rebounds.
Danville 49, Falkville 47
The Hawks earned the home win on Tuesday with Adily Alberti tossing in 20 points and grabbing 9 rebounds with 3 steals.
Olivia West had 5 rebounds and 3 assists.
BIRMINGHAM
Homewood 68, Bibb County 42
The Patriots improved to 11-3 with the road win on Tuesday.
Homewood used a balanced scoring attack to pick up the win. Laine Litton and Kayla Warren scored 12 points each. Lane Crowe scored 11 and Deavion Portis added 8.
The Patriots travel to Spain Park on Friday.
On Monday, Homewood trounced McAdory 54-9, also on the road.
Nine Homewood players scored, led by Ava Robinson with 19 points. Crowe scored 8 and Ellis McCool added 7 in the win.
BOYS
HUNTSVILLE/TENNESSEE VALLEY
Florence 77, Mae Jemison 69 (OT)
Bryant James hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to force overtime and Florence outscored the visitors 13-5 in the extra time to earn the win. James’ long bucket was one of 13 3-pointers the Falcons converted in the win.
Florence (5-3) got 22 points from James on the night. Alleick Shipley scored 19 for the Falcons and PJ Key added 12.
Florence will host Muscle Shoals on Friday.
Westminster Christian 69, Haleyville 58
The Wildcats, playing with six players due to the football team’s advancement to the Class 4A playoff semifinals, broke open a first-quarter tie with a 20-8 run in the second period on the way to the win at Haleyville on Tuesday. The game was a rematch of last season’s regional semifinal game, also won by Westminster on the way to a state runner-up finish to Jacksonville.
Sophomore Dakenzie Battle led Westminster with 17 points. Senior Kyle Everleth added 12 points for the Warriors (2-5).
Westminster hit 55 percent of its shots, including 7-of-13 on 3-point buckets, and held Haleyville (0-4) to 38 percent shooting.
Eli Cagle led the Lions with 18 points.
Westminster hosts St. John Paul II in an area game on Friday. Haleyville will travel to Winfield.

Hartselle 65, Lawrence County 63
The Tigers rallied from a 23-19 first-quarter deficit and held off Lawrence County late to earn the win at home on Thursday. Hartselle led 37-36 at the half and 53-46 headed into the final period, where the visitors outscored the Tigers 17-13.
Ty Odom led four Tigers in double figures with 21 points, 13 in the opening half. Rylan Smothers scored 15 of his 17 points before intermission. Kohl Key added 11 points with three 3-pointers and Markus Tapscott scored 10.
Alex Bedford scored 23 to lead all scorers, including four 3-point buckets for the Red Devils. TJ Gobble scored 13, Blake Long had 11 and Logan Boswell added 10 in the loss.
Austin 66, Hartselle 52
The Black Bears earned the home win in Decatur, outscoring Hartselle 14-12 in the opening period, pulling to a 31-24 halftime edge and carrying a 44-37 lead into the final quarter.
Jordan Johnson led Austin with 23 points in a balanced effort, scoring 12 in the opening half and 11 after the intermission. Harry Malone scored 13 of his 19 points in the first half. He made three 3-pointers.
Rylan Smothers led Hartselle with 23 points, 13 coming in the second half. Ty Odom scored 9 and Aiden Pointer added 8.
STATEWIDE
Stanhope Elmore 60, Montgomery Academy 56
Montgomery Academy fell to 8-2 on the season, playing for the second game in a row without top scorer Skyler Stovall.
DJ Vinson led the Eagles at Millbrook with a double-double. He scored 19 points and hauled in 12 rebounds with 3 blocked shots. Brewer Welch had 15 points with 9 assists and 8 rebounds and 4 steals. Seth Edwards also had a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 points.
Montgomery Academy hosts Booker T. Washington Magnet on Saturday.
On Monday, Montgomery Academy rallied in the second and third periods at home to top Tallassee 64-52.
The Eagles trailed 19-15 after one quarter, but outscored the visitors 37-17 over the next two periods to carry a 52-36 advantage into the final quarter.
DJ Vinson led a balance Montgomery Academy attack with 16 points, 16 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Freshman Jarrett Friendly scored 14 points, including three 3-pointers, and grabbed 6 rebounds with 5 steals and 3 blocks. Brewer Welch scored 12 points and had 13 assists. Cole Caddell also had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Seth Edwards added 11 rebounds.
Central-Tuscaloosa 64, Cornerstone 55
The Falcons picked up the home win on Thursday with King Larkin scoring 19 points and grabbing 6 rebounds.
Dominic Myles scored 9 points and had 3 steals. Tyler Colvin hauled in 6 rebounds to go with his 7 points for Central.
Israel May led Cornerstone with 16 points. De’Marion Burks tossed in 14 points.
Prattville 73, Wetumpka 66
Ty Bryant poured in 26 points to lead the Lions to the home win on Tuesday. Bryant also had 5 rebounds and a pair of assists.
Sophomore Donavan Brown scored 13 points for Prattville with 6 rebounds and freshman Isaiah Bradley added 11 with three 3-pointers. Evan Chandler grabbed 8 rebounds in the win.
Central-Tuscaloosa 43, American Christian 38
Tyler Colvin scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds to help Central-Tuscaloosa to the road win on Monday. Kevin Warren Jr. hauled in 10 rebounds and scored 8 points for the Falcons.
Hunter Bates led American Christian with 10 points and Davis Dare added 8.
Prattville 54, Prattville Christian 52
The Lions (3-10) slipped past Prattville Christian in the Autauga County Tournament on Thursday at Autaugaville.
Cade Segars scored 18 points and claimed 5 rebounds for PCA (4-6). Collier Connell scored 18 points and had 5 rebounds. PJ Evans had a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds.
The Panthers will play Marbury for third place on Friday at 5:30 p.m.
Prattville Christian 66, St. James 41
The Panthers picked up the win at home on Tuesday behind to big nights for Collier Connell and Cade Segars. Connell scored 26 points, claimed 5 rebounds and had 5 assists. Segars scored 24 points with 6 assists and 4 rebounds.
PJ Evans added 10 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals for Prattville Christian. Ryan Kiefer had 9 rebounds and Brady Roberson had 6.
Georgiana 77, Opp 50
The Panthers rolled past Opp in the Georgiana Christmas Clash Tournament on Thursday.
Georgiana (4-0) got 17 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists from Nasir Cheatham, who led four Panthers in double figures. Noah Nelson scored 16 points in the win. Quan Scott scored 12 and Marques Payton added 10.
The Panthers will play Andalusia in the championship game on Friday.
On Tuesday, Georgiana rolled past Flomaton 91-51 at home. Payton notching a double-double, pouring in 28 points and claiming 11 rebounds for Georgiana.
Jaden Stallworth scored 13 for the winners with Cheatham adding 11. Jacobie Morgan had 10 assists and 8 rebounds for Georgiana.
MOBILE/COASTAL ALABAMA
Williamson 63, Moss Point (Miss.) 55
The Lions improved to 7-3 on the year with the win on the road on Tuesday. Johnathan Johnson scored 23 points, grabbed 9 rebounds and blocked 2 shots for Williamson.
Mikel Bonner and Corien Coleman scored 8 points apiece for the winners.
Williamson returns to action on Dec. 12 at Blount.
Baker 61, Vigor 57
Baker raced to a big lead before holding off Vigor’s late rally to earn the win at home on Tuesday. Baker led 23-9 after one quarter and 32-22 at the half. Vigor trailed by 12 headed into the fourth period before outscoring the home team 23-15 for the final margin.
Desmond Williams led the Hornets with 17 points. Derrick Florence had 14 for Baker and Lovalle Nelson added 10.
Jermaine Tate led Vigor with 17 points. Terrel Johnson scored 16.
Baker, 9-2 on the year, will host Theodore on Friday.
Robertsdale 49, Elberta 30
The Golden Bears rolled to the home win on Thursday night. Robertsdale trailed 11-5 after one quarter, but rolled to a 20-5 second quarter to lead 25-14 at the half.
Gabe Stevens led Robertsdale with 17 points. He also had 5 steals in the win.
Robertsdale (6-5) travels to Foley on Friday at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, Robertsdale rallied from a double-digit deficit to escape with a 47-44 win at Bayshore Christian. The Bears outscored the home team 19-2 in the third period to overcome Bayshore’s 30-19 halftime advantage.
Kole Singler led Robertsdale with 19 points. He also had 5 rebounds in the win.
Cottage Hill 62, Foley 52
The Warriors improved to 9-2 with the road win on Thursday at Foley.
Caleb Metzner scored 23 points to lead Cottage Hill. Clay Scofield scored 21 with 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
The Warriors play at UMS-Wright on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
On Tuesday, Cottage Hill beat Murphy 54-51 at home. Shadrick Toodle led Cottage Hill with 18 points. He also had 4 assists and a pair of steals.
Scofield had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds with 2 blocks. Shadarius Toodle scored 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds.
Chickasaw 54, Bayshore Christian 32
The Chieftains rolled to the home win on Thursday to improve to 7-1 on the season.
Jamarion Osborne scored 20 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and had 6 steals and 5 assists. Robert Jackson and Jacquives Daniels had 10 points apiece. Jackson also had 5 steals and 3 assists.
Chickasaw plays at Citronelle on Friday.
On Tuesday, Sydrus Gilmore sank a 3-pointer off an assist from Osborne with 1.5 seconds left to lift the Chieftains over Mobile Christian 55-52 on the road Tuesday night. The Leopards had led most of the game and had tied it with a three-point play with less than a minute remaining.
Osborne led the winners with 25 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Gilmore had 12 points with 3 blocks for Chickasaw (6-1). Daniels and Javon Mose added 8 points apiece.
Mobile Christian led by 7 points early in the first period and was up 29-24 at the half.
BIRMINGHAM
Chelsea 59, Pelham 50
Avery Futch poured in 23 points to lead Chelsea to the win at Pelham on Thursday. Gavin Collett scored 15 in the win for the Hornets.
Dynarian Long led Pelham with 15 points.
Oak Mountain 79, Briarwood Christian 61
The Eagles rolled to a home win over Briarwood Christian on Tuesday with Chase Lamey tossing in 21 points.
Grey Williams and Emanuel Johnson scored 10 points apiece with Chris Kunard scoring 9 points with 5 steals and 4 assists.
