Will Baldwin County approve subdivision with ‘unresolved’ questions?

A subdivision proposed for Spanish Fort may still have “unresolved questions” Thursday when the Baldwin County Planning and Zoning Commission takes it up at its monthly meeting.

As a result, the Darby Ridge subdivision falls into an unusual category: it goes before the commission with no recommendation – for or against – by the county planning department’s staff.

Baldwin County Planning and Zoning Director Matthew Brown said in a message to the Lede the staff made a “neutral” recommendation because of “unresolved questions related to fire safety standards and sight distance standards.”

Brown said he was unsure if the issues at Darby Ridge, a 78-lot subdivision on D’Olive Road, east of Bay Minette Creek, would be resolved by Thursday’s meeting.

The site sits in Planning District 7, which does not have zoning, according to the planning department records.
