One person was killed and another was critically injured after a wreck in north Alabama early Wednesday evening.

Huntsville Emergency Medical Services, Inc. received a call about the two-vehicle wreck on Highway 53 near Jim McLemore Road in Harvest around 5:43 p.m. Wednesday, a spokesman for the agency told WHNT.

One victim was pronounced dead at the scene while the second was taken to Huntsville Hospital in critical condition.

State troopers closed both lanes of Highway 53 at Jim McLemore Road following the wreck.
