Oregon’s Bo Nix makes pitstop to support father ahead of Saturday’s Heisman Trophy ceremony
On Saturday night, current Oregon and former Auburn quarterback Bo Nix will be dressed to the nines in New York City as he hopes to hear his name called as the recipient of the 89th Heisman Trophy.
But on Wednesday — one day after receiving the William V. Campbell Trophy in Las Vegas — Nix was spotted in Tuscaloosa, wearing black sweatpants, white tennis shoes and a black coat.
Nix made his pitstop in Tuscaloosa to show support for his father, Patrick Nix, who is set to coach the Central-Phenix City football team in the AHSAA 7A state championship game on Wednesday night.
Patrick Nix, who played quarterback at Auburn from 1992-95, is in his fourth year as Central-Phenix City’s head coach and has the Red Devils primed to compete in Wednesday’s state championship against Thompson as Nix’s squad boasts a flawless, 11-0 record.
And despite the commitment necessary to help navigate the Red Devils on their state championship run, Pat Nix has still made time to be a dad, despite his son playing college football across the country.
When Bo Nix and the Oregon Ducks met with the Washington Huskies for the Pac-12 Championship Game on Dec. 1 at Las Vegas’ Allegiant Stadium, Pat Nix was there to support his son, despite having a high school football team to coach back home in Alabama.
And though Bo Nix has plenty on his plate — from Saturday’s Heisman Trophy ceremony to Oregon’s date with Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl on Jan. 1 — he was happy to return the favor and support his father Wednesday night, even if it meant making a visit to Alabama’s Bryant Denny Stadium.
