Even Aaron Rodgers is mad about Florida State but not why you think

Count Aaron Rodgers among those that have a problem with the College Football Playoff committee keeping Florida State out of the CFP.

“That was my team growing up,” Rodgers said on “The Pat McAfee Show” this week. “That was my team.”

There has been national outcry that the undefeated ACC champion Seminoles were left out of the final four in favor of one-loss SEC champion Alabama.

As it turns out, though, the New York Jets quarterback’s problem isn’t with Nick Saban’s squad.

“I think they should have gotten in over Texas,” he said as he flashed a Horns down sign.

But Texas beat Alabama 34-24 in September. “Four months ago,” Rodgers said.

The debate over the committee’s decision hasn’t stopped since Sunday.

Booger McFarland said he would “go to my grave” defending Florida State, while NBC Sports’ Dan Patrick wondered if the ACC was really a Power 5 conference.

Meanwhile, SEC Network analyst Paul Finebaum and CNN’s Kaitlan Collins went on offensive against anti-Alabama CFP talk.

Florida Senator Rick Scott and other state politicians demanded CFP committee chairman Boo Corrigan answer for the “corrupt” FSU decision.

Deion Sanders said the decision was “business,” and Alabama’s Nick Saban wasn’t going to be denied.

Stephen A. Smith contends Florida State would be in CFP if Deion Sanders was coach.

Donald Trump blamed Florida’s Ron DeSantis for a “bad lobbying effort” for Florida State’s CFP exclusion.
