A convicted sex offender from California is behind bars in Alabama after authorities said he paid a juvenile girl to produce nude videos of herself.

Efon Guiseppe Carter, 24, of Los Angeles, is charged with first-degree human trafficking, production of obscene material depicting a person under the age of 17 engaged in obscene acts, electronic solicitation of a child and transmitting obscene material to a child by computer.

Carter’s arrest followed a two-month investigation by the West Alabama Human Trafficking Task Force.

Investigators received information that Carter in August was using social media and text messaging to communicate with the young girl in Tuscaloosa.

Charging documents against Carter state he communicated with the girl through text messages and Instagram direct messages. Authorities said he told her he would pay her $8 for videos of her dancing in her underwear and $10 if she would “twerk with no shorts on.”

Messages from the child’s cell phone indicate he gave her specific instructions on how to make the videos and paid the child for the videos through Cash App.

“The videos clearly show the child displaying genital and breast nudity as well as performing acts requester by Carter,’’ an investigator wrote in a deposition.

The warrants against Carter were obtained Oct. 20, and he was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department’s Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Carter was extradited to Alabama on Nov. 25 and booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail where he remains held without bond under Aniah’s Law. A hearing is scheduled for January.

According to the California Sex Offender Registry, Carter was previously convicted of lewd or lascivious acts with a child under the age of 14.

The investigation is ongoing with additional charges possible.
