Alabama basketball’s Grant Nelson didn’t finish Monday’s blowout win over Arkansas State. Nelson was subbed out of the game with 13:06 left, and left the bench area before the game was over.

According to Alabama head coach Nate Oats, Nelson suffered a left leg injury that required treatment. Since the score was already out of hand in UA’s favor, they opted to begin treatment then.

“Trying to get him ready by Saturday,” Oats said after the game. “He should be good to go Saturday. So, left leg injury that needed some treatment, just with how the score was at the time.”

The Crimson Tide dominated Arkansas State, winning 89-65. UA moved to 6-1 on the season with the win.

Nelson transferred in from North Dakota State during the offseason. He scored 12 points in Monday’s win, grabbed a rebound and had two assists.

The 6-foot-11 senior earned all-Summit League honors last season at NDSU. Before Monday’s game, he had been averaging 14.3 points per game, good for third on the Crimson Tide.

Nelson led the team in rebounds, coming down with seven per game before Monday’s matchup. He also averaged 1.7 blocks per game, which once again led the Crimson Tide.

Alabama will be back in action on Saturday, facing Purdue in Toronto. After that, the Tide has road games against Creighton and Arizona before returning to Tuscaloosa.
