A Sheffield woman was fatally struck by a car Sunday evening, the Sheffield Police Department reports.

According to information posted on the Sheffield Police Department’s Facebook page, officers responded at about 5:45 p.m. Sunday to the area of 601 E. 2nd St. The Sheffield Fire Department was already on the scene.

The victim was taken by ambulance to Helen Keller Hospital, where she later was pronounced dead. She was identified as Frances Sharon Kuykendall, 55, of Sheffield.

According to the police account, the driver “remained on the scene and was fully cooperative with law enforcement.” No charges are expected, though an investigation continues.
