Auburn wide receiver Jyaire Shorter enters transfer portal before 7th year

Auburn wide receiver Jyaire Shorter will enter the transfer portal after one season with Auburn where he only had one catch.

On3 first reported the news, which Shorter re-posted on X, formerly known as Twitter. Shorter then posted his own statement.

Shorter came to Auburn for a sixth year of football after an embattled five seasons at North Texas. He had season-ending injuries in both 2020 and 2021, but finally found a run of form in 2022 when he led the nation with 27.3 yards per catch.

He was brought to Auburn expected to be a big-play threat. He was listed as a starting wide receiver on Auburn’s depth chart.

But it never materialized.

Shorter played in seven games this season and made just one catch for 10 yards.

Shorter has one more year of eligibility, his seventh season, remaining.

He is the fifth Auburn player to enter the portal after defensive lineman Enyce Sledge, defensive lineman Stephen Johnson, jack linebacker Stephen Sings V and fellow wide receiver Omari Kelly.
