Ohio State QB Kyle McCord has entered transfer portal
Ohio State quarterback Kyle McCord has entered the NCAA transfer portal, he announced via social media.
McCord threw for 3,170 yards and 24 touchdowns in 2023, his first season as a starter. He led the Buckeyes to an 11-1 record and a berth in the Cotton Bowl vs. Missouri.
McCord posted on Twitter Monday that he is entering the portal to “explore other opportunities.” As a junior who played in five games as a true freshman and seven as a sophomore before 12 this year, he’ll have one season of eligibility remaining.
McCord wasn’t likely to lose his job to anyone on the Ohio State roster, but it’s possible the Buckeyes are eyeing another potential transfer. Washington State’s Cam Ward, who also recently went into the portal, has been linked to Ohio State among other schools.
The NCAA transfer portal officially opened on Monday.
