49ers, Eagles get hot after tackle on DeVonta Smith

When San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw slammed Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith to the ground out of bounds, the former Alabama All-American hopped up hot.

And because the incident took place on the Philadelphia sideline, Smith had a lot of support, including Dom DiSandro, the Eagles’ director of security, who stepped between the players.

Already set to be penalized for the tackle on Smith at the end of the 13-yard reception, Greenlaw compounded things by poking his fist into DiSandro’s face.

Greenlaw was ejected from the game, and DiSandro left the Philadelphia sideline after the officials ended the sideline scuffle.

The penalty moved the Eagles to the San Francisco 24-yard line, and quarterback Jalen Hurts finished the drive five snaps later with a 1-yard touchdown as Philadelphia cut the 49ers’ lead to 21-13 with 6:51 left in the third quarter.

The Eagles are trying to win for the fifth game in a row after trailing at halftime.
