Watch Florida Stateâs reaction to being snubbed by CFP
Someone was going to be left out of the College Football Playoff, and it was Florida State.
The undefeated ACC champs were on the outside looking in when the CFP committee announced Alabama – not the Seminoles – would play No. 1 Michigan in the Rose Bowl. The decision sparked a huge debate and reaction.
It also left the Florida State program, which gathered for a watch party Sunday, stunned.
The Seminoles (13-0) lost star quarterback Jordan Travis to a season-ending injury two weeks ago, but continued to win with a backup and then a third-string quarterback. But the committee is instructed to judge the teams for what they are heading into the playoff and decided FSU without Travis was not among the best four in the country.

On Sunday, Florida State on Sunday became the first undefeated Power 5 conference champion left out of the College Football Playoff. Athletics director Michael Alford called it unforgiveable.
Florida State defeated No. 15 Louisville 16-6 on Saturday night to earn the Seminoles’ first ACC championship since 2014. The Seminoles moved to 13-0, but that didn’t guarantee a spot in the four-team playoff.
