This Alabama play should’ve been reversed vs. Georgia in SEC title game, Gene Steratore says

An Alabama completion in the first half of the SEC Championship Game against No. 1 Georgia should have been reviewed and reversed, said CBS rules analyst Gene Steratore.

The Tide, facing a fourth and 4 on the Georgia 37 with 1:20 left in the first half, got a 22-yard completion from Jalen Milroe to Isaiah Bond.

“I think you stop game at that point, prior to that snap,” Steratore said during the CBS broadcast late into halftime. “You then slow this down, take all the angles, and review it.

“In my opinion, when you have possession this way, you are going to the ground, that football hits the ground and moves in anyway, then, in my opinion, the football has aided you in finalizing the catch.”

CBS posted Steratore explanation to “X,” the social medial platformer formerly known as Twitter, but the post was later removed.

Two plays later, Milroe hit Jermaine Burton for a touchdown with 48 seconds left in the half to give the Tide a 17-7 lead. Steratore said the review official, must decide whether a review is warranted in real time.
