Simmons is replacing Central-Phenix City wide receiver Cameron Coleman. Henderson is replacing Spanish Fort EDGE Cole McConathy.

“I’m excited about the talent we have on this team,” said Enterprise head coach Ben Blackmon, who will lead the Alabama squad. “I think we have a good group of kids. Every coach I talk to raves about how good the kids are on and off the field.

“We’ve got a lot of guys who are still playing this week and many probably into next week (Super 7). It’s an honor to coach this game. It’s an honor for kids to be chosen for this game. The Alabama-Mississippi Game means a lot. You are called to represent your state. It’s going to be a fun week in Mississippi.”

The 6-foot, 175-pound Simmons led Benjamin Russell to a 10-3 record this year and the Class 6A quarterfinals. He caught 60 passes for 1,279 yards and 14 touchdowns and also scored eight rushing TDs.

“We’re excited to bring Malcolm in,” Blackmon said. “He’s had a phenomenal year. He’s a very explosive player. When the ball is in his hands, defenses better look out.”

Simmons is the No. 16 senior recruit in the state, according to the 247 composite rankings. Henderson is No. 13. The 6-foot-2, 240-pound recruit led Leeds to a 9-3 record. The Green Wave lost to reigning 5A champ Ramsay in the second round of the playoffs.

“Kavion brings a spark to any defense,” Blackmon said. “He is a big-bodied defensive end who plays with a motor. He’s very strong with good technique and fundamentals.”

Simmons and Henderson join an Alabama roster that includes Clay-Chalkville’s Jaylen Mbakwe, Foley’s Perry Thompson, Gadsden City’s Dre Kirkpatrick Jr., Parker’s Jeremiah Beaman, Pike Road’s Malik Blocton and Baker’s Bryce Cain.

Players were selected by the AHSADCA All-Star selection committee from nominations submitted by member schools.

Blackmon’s staff includes Saraland’s Jeff Kelly, Andalusia’s Trent Taylor, Ramsay’s Ronnie Jackson, Foley’s Deric Scott, Opelika’s Erik Speakman, Bibb County’s Matt Geohagan and Benjamin Russell’s Smitty Grider. The scout coach is Justin Turner of Enterprise.
