559 Alabama bridges in ‘poor condition;’ Here’s which counties they’re in
According to the Federal Highway Administration, 559 of Alabama’s 16,176 bridges are judged to be in “poor condition,” including many near the coast.
In Baldwin County, 1.9% of the bridges are listed to be in “poor condition,” compared with 2.4% in Mobile County, according to Stacker, which ranked the counties in Alabama with the most bridges, using analysis from Truckinfo.net.
The analysis also included information on the condition of the bridges. Alabama has the 23rd highest concentration of bridges in the United States, according to Truckinfo.net and coastal Alabama’s two largest counties, Mobile County and Baldwin County, both rank in the top ten counties with the most bridges.
The condition of coastal area bridges has been a hot topic for state officials in 2023.
