Gangsta Boo of Three 6 Mafia found dead at 43
Gangsta Boo, a pioneering female artist and former Three 6 Mafia protégé, has died.
She was 43.
No cause of death has been reported.
Boo, whose real name was Lola Mitchell, became affiliated with the powerhouse Memphis group on the Hypnotize Minds label at the age of 14 when she recorded “Cheefa Da Reefa,” in 1994.
DJ Paul, a founding member of Three 6 Mafia, posted about Boo’s death as well.
Fox 13 out of Memphis reported that she was found dead around 4 p.m. on Sunday at her home.
Gangsta Boo left Three 6 Mafia around 2002.
Boo’s first solo album, “Enquiring Minds,” reached the 15th spot on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip Hop charts and was 46th on the Billboard 200 in 1998.
