Firefighters unable to resuscitate dog pulled from burning Birmingham home

A family’s dog was killed in afternoon fire at an east Birmingham home.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service Lt. Catina Williams said firefighters were dispatched to the home before 4 p.m. Tuesday. The blaze happened in the 1200 block of American Drive.

When crews arrived at the residence, smoke and fire were showing.

The residents were able to escape the blaze, but firefighters pulled the family’s dog from the home. They attempted to resuscitate the dog, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

The cause of the fire has not yet been released.
