In the first three seasons of his NFL career, former Spain Park High School standout Mike Jackson got on the field for 29 defensive snaps and 20 special-teams plays in four regular-season games. He was waived three times and traded once.

On Sunday, Jackson made his 16th start of the 2022 campaign at left cornerback for Seattle, passed 1,000 defensive snaps for the season and recorded his first NFL interception in the Seahawks’ 23-6 victory over the New York Jets.

Jackson came up with his first NFL interception on a first-and-10 pass by New York quarterback Mike White at the Jets 47-yard line and returned it 23 yards. Jackson fumbled at the end of the return, but Seattle recovered with 9:17 left to play at the New York 24. The interception set up the Seahawks’ final field goal of their victory.

Jackson also made four tackles in the game to boost his season total to 70. He entered the season with a career total of three.

The Jets came to Seattle hoping to keep their postseason chances alive. Instead, the Seahawks will head into the final week of the regular season with a shot at making the playoffs. For that to happen, Seattle will need to beat the Los Angeles Rams while the Green Bay Packers lose to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Jackson was among the 36 players from Alabama high schools and colleges (excluding Alabama and Auburn) who got on the field on the 17th Sunday of the NFL’s 103rd season.

· Kwon Alexander (Oxford) started at linebacker for the Jets. Alexander made three tackles.

· Jets defensive end Bryce Huff (St. Paul’s Episcopal) played but did not record any stats.

· Quincy Williams (Wenonah) started at linebacker for the Jets. Williams led New York with 10 tackles.

· Cardinals center Rodney Hudson (B.C. Rain) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Christian Matthew (Samford) started at cornerback for the Cardinals. Matthew made two tackles and broke up one pass in his second NFL start.

· Cardinals offensive lineman Lachavious Simmons (Selma) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Cardinals safety Josh Thomas (Montgomery Academy) played but did not record any stats in his first NFL regular-season appearance since Nov. 15, 2020. Arizona elevated Thomas from its practice squad to make him eligible to play.

· Bears fullback Khari Blasingame (Buckhorn) played but did not record any stats.

· Bears wide receiver Velus Jones Jr. (Saraland) had a 13-yard run and a 63-yard kickoff return.

· Bears wide receiver Darnell Mooney (Gadsden City) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Nicholas Morrow (Huntsville) started at linebacker for the Bears. Morrow made six tackles and recorded one tackle for loss.

· Lions guard Logan Stenberg (James Clemens) played but did not record any stats.

Jacksonville Jaguars 31, Houston Texans 3

· Texans defensive end Mario Addison (Tarrant, Troy) made two tackles.

· Josh Allen (Abbeville) started at weakside linebacker for the Jaguars. Allen made six tackles, recorded one sack, registered three quarterback hits and forced one fumble. On Allen’s strip sack of Houston quarterback Davis Mills, Jacksonville cornerback Tyson Campbell recovered the loose football and ran 12 yards for a touchdown as the Jaguars took a 21-0 lead with 11:35 left in the first half.

· Texans wide receiver Nico Collins (Clay-Chalkville) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Tytus Howard (Monroe County, Alabama State) started at right offensive tackle for the Texans.

· Jaguars tight end Gerrit Prince (UAB) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Broncos punter Corliss Waitman (South Alabama) averaged 51.4 yards on five punts with a net average of 44.6 yards. Waitman had a 43-yard punt for a fair catch at the Kansas City 35-yard line, a 50-yarder for a fair catch at the Kansas City 9, a 53-yarder that was fumbled back to the Broncos at the Kansas City 16 to set up Denver’s first touchdown, a 57-yarder for a touchback and a 54-yarder returned 7 yards to the Kansas City 35.

· Broncos wide receiver Montrell Washington (Samford) was designated as a game-day inactive.

· Dolphins outside linebacker Trey Flowers (Columbia) is on injured reserve and not eligible to play.

· Patriots cornerback Tae Hayes (Decatur) made two tackles in his New England debut, including one that forced a turnover on downs. Hayes played five games this season for the Carolina Panthers and had joined New England’s practice squad last week.

· Tyreek Hill (West Alabama) started at wide receiver for the Dolphins. Hill had four receptions for 55 yards and ran 2 yards for a touchdown with a pitchout as Miami tied the game at 7-7 with 14:55 left in the first half.

· Patriots cornerback Marcus Jones (Enterprise, Troy) was designated as a game-day inactive. A concussion kept Jones off the field.

· Dolphins running back LaMical Perine (Theodore) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· Gerald Everett (UAB/South Alabama) started at tight end for the Chargers. Everett had three receptions for 15 yards and one touchdown. Everett scored on a 6-yard pass from quarterback Justin Herbert as the Chargers took a 24-10 lead with 8:46 left in the third quarter. Everett has scored three touchdowns this season.

Pittsburgh Steelers 16, Baltimore Ravens 13

· Ravens outside linebacker Jeremiah Moon (Hoover) is on the practice squad and not eligible to play.

· George Pickens (Hoover) started at wide receiver for the Steelers. Pickens caught two passes for 29 yards.

Week 17 concludes on Monday, when the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals square off at 7:15 p.m. CST at Paycor Stadium in Cincinnati. ABC, ESPN and ESPN Deportes will televise the game.
