One woman was killed and another wounded during an apparent drive-by shooting at a holiday gathering in Prichard early Sunday morning, according to Prichard police.

Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Sweeney Lane on a report of multiple gunshots just after midnight Sunday.

Preliminary investigation indicates one or more persons pulled up to the location and fired multiple shots into the gathering of people.

Jovonni Tunisha McKeller, 46, was struck by gunfire and died of her injuries. A second woman was also struck and transported to a hospital with what police said were non-life-threatening injuries.
