Etowah County authorities are on the scene of an apparent plane crash in the northern part of the county.

Sheriff Jonathon Horton said the crash happened after 6 p.m.

Deputies, along with fire departments from Attalla, Ivalee and Gallant, are in the area of Rocky Hollow Cutoff Road.

Horton said the plane is a six-seater Piper Saratoga.

There is no word yet on fatalities or injuries as of 7 p.m.
