Jimmy Buffett gives pet adoption a push in new âLike My Dogâ video
In Jimmy Buffett’s newest music video, the late songwriter gives a push to the ASPCA and pet adoption, especially when it comes to dogs.
“This is Jim, with Jim’s dogs,” Buffett says at the beginning of the new video for “Like My Dog,” his cover of a 2011 country hit. “We’re back in business here. When you’ve got dogs out there, I’m your guy. Just remember. We don’t do cats, we don’t do frogs, here at Jim’s, we just do dogs.”
The accompanying video features scenes of Buffett enjoying life with his own dogs in clips that have never been shown to the public before. Interspersed with those are videos of Buffett fans and their own canine companions.
Though lighthearted, the video gives a serious push to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, encouraging people interested in pet adoption to visit www.aspca.org/adopt-pet for information.
“The dedication and humanity Jimmy Buffett put into his music crossed over into his love for animals, especially pets and wildlife,” said Matt Bershadker, ASPCA President & CEO. “This collaboration honors Jimmy’s legacy and animal advocacy and reflects our shared commitment to help vulnerable dogs find safe and loving homes.”
Buffett’s version of the song can be found on the album “Equal Strain on All Parts,” released in early November following the singer’s death on Sept. 1. Written by Scotty Emerick and Harley Allen, the tune was a Top 30 country hit for Billy Currington in 2011.
