State NFL roundup: Big play for former Samford star

State NFL roundup: Big play for former Samford star

The Philadelphia Eagles battled past the Buffalo Bills for a 37-34 overtime victory on Sunday, and former Pleasant Grove High School and Samford standout James Bradberry was one of the reasons why.

With Philadelphia trailing 24-21, Bradberry picked off Buffalo quarterback Josh Allen and, with a 3-yard return, put the Eagles at the Bills 24-yard line with 12:46 to play. Three snaps later, Philadelphia scored a touchdown to take the lead after trailing 17-7 at halftime.

But that wasn’t the only pass that Bradberry got his hands on against Buffalo. He also broke up four passes. Bradberry became the second player this season with five passes defended in one game, joining New Orleans Saints cornerback Alontae Taylor in a 18-17 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 24.

Bradberry’s first interception of the 2023 season was the 19th of his NFL career.

Bradberry also made three tackles as Philadelphia improved to 10-1.

Bradberry was among the 32 players from Alabama high schools and colleges (excluding Alabama and Auburn) who got on the field on the 12th Sunday of the NFL’s 104th season.
