Alabama NFL roundup: Cooper, Henry reach milestones

Tennessee Titans running back Derrick Henry and Cleveland Browns wide receiver Amari Cooper reached a big number in their NFL careers on Sunday – 9,000.

Henry surpassed 9,000 rushing yards, and Cooper reached 9,000 receiving yards.

Henry ran for 86 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries and caught one pass that netted zero yards as the Titans ended a three-game losing streak with a 17-10 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

Henry scored the game’s first points on a 1-yard run with 34 seconds left in the first quarter and ran 10 yards for a touchdown with 2:27 left in the first half.

Henry passed 9,000 career rushing yards on his second carry of Sunday’s game. In his eighth NFL season, Henry has 9,084 yards and 84 touchdowns on 1,926 rushing attempts in 113 regular-season games.

Henry became the 39th player in NFL history to reach 9,000 rushing yards. His TD-run total ranks 17th in NFL history after he surpassed Pro Football Hall of Fame member Jim Taylor’s 83 on Sunday.

With quarterback Deshaun Watson sidelined, Cooper was working with rookie QB Dorian Thompson-Robinson and, when he went out with a concussion, P.J. Walker on Sunday.

In his ninth NFL season, Cooper became the 74th player in NFL history with 9,000 receiving yards on an 11-yard reception in the third quarter. Cooper left the game in the fourth quarter after taking a hard shot to the ribs on an overthrown pass.
