Jaylen Mbakwe threw for 316 yards and five touchdowns to lead Clay-Chalkville past Muscle Shoals 44-27 in the Class 6A quarterfinals on Friday.

The second-ranked Cougars (12-0) will host fifth-ranked Parker (12-1) in next week’s semifinal round.

Mbakwe completed 21 of 27 passes in the game, including 7-of-8 passing for 164 yards and four touchdowns in the second half.

Marlon Compton caught seven passes for 94 yards and a touchdown while Mario Cravers had five receptions for 81 yards and two scores.

Cole Woods finished 16-of-20 passing for 233 yards and two touchdowns for the Trojans (11-1). Both of those went to Jamir Goodloe, who caught six of those passes for 138 yards.
