Top-ranked B.B. Comer scored 42 unanswered points to roll over Clarke County 42-22 in the Class 2A quarterfinals on the road Friday night in Grove Hill.

Quarterback Devin Harvey accounted for four touchdowns for the Tigers (13-0), who will meet Reeltown in the semifinals next week. Harvey had a 1-yard touchdown run and he completed seven passes – all to Raelon Sims, who had touchdown catches for 35, 41 and 12 yards. He also had receptions of 41, 30 and 20 yards and finished the night with 180 yards.

After recording a safety and then driving 47 yards on its ensuring possession, Clarke County pulled out to an 8-0 lead when Jayshaun Stokes scored on an 11-yard run.

The Tigers’ offense came to life in the second quarter, getting on the scoreboard with a five-play, 64-yard drive. Kamore Harris went the final 11 yards for the touchdown, opening the floodgates for the visitors.

Clarke County added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter on Tamyus Pugh runs of 12 and 7 yards.

Star of the game: Comer’s Harris came in with 1,422 rushing yards with 24 touchdowns. Clarke County tackled him for negative yards on 4 of his first 6 carries before he got going and finished with 151 yards on 14 carries.

Play of the game: Harris’ 79-yard run with 10:07 left in the third quarter on the Tigers opening possession of the second half extended the Tigers’ lead to 28-8.

Stat sheet: AJ Ezell, the Bulldogs’ top back, was held to a season-low 23 yards rushing – including just one carry in the second half. Stokes led the Clarke County (7-6) with 74 yards on 6 carries.
