Vestavia Hills beat Sparkman in a 66-39 romp to claim the 45th annual Sneaky Pete’s Rebel Classic at Vestavia on Wednesday.

The Rebels are 5-1 on the season.

Tournament most valuable player Jackson Weaver led Vestavia Hills with 27 points. The 6-foot-3 senior guard also had 5 rebounds for the champions. Adam Barksdale, a 6-5 junior guard, added 10 points and also had 5 rebounds.

Vestavia Hills advanced to the championship with a 65-51 win over Mae Jemison on Tuesday. Weaver led the Rebels with 29 points and 5 rebounds.

Barksdale scored 14 in the win and Ben Evans added 11.

Sparkman had rolled into the finals with a 54-41 win over Enterprise, led by Orlandis Beale’s 17 points and 5 rebounds. Jayden Bass scored 11 points and Caleb Lightford had 5 assists.

Tucker Wadsworth led Enterprise with 10 points.

The Senators opened the tournament with a 53-50 win over Clay-Chalkville. Jojo Moore led Sparkman with 12 points. Lightford had 9 assists, 6 rebounds and 8 points for Sparkman. Bass added 9 points. Jamarion Matthews grabbed 5 rebounds.

Deron McKinnon scored 19 points for Clay-Chalkville. KJ Kirk scored 12 for the Cougars.

N2HOOPS CLASSIC

Huntsville 58, Austin 36

The Crimson Panthers rode the hot hand of Caleb Harrison and tough defense to capture the Classic championship at Bob Jones on Wednesday. Tournament MVP Harrison scored a career-high 28 points and grabbed 8 rebounds in the title game. The 6-10 senior scored 21, 27 and 28 points in his last three games for 7-1 Huntsville.

Brayden Rivers scored 14 points with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks for Huntsville. Rivers and John David Gossett were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

Huntsville led 30-19 at the half and 44-31 headed into the final period.

Jordan Johnson scored 17 points to lead Austin (6-2). The 6-3 senior had scored 30 points in the semifinals against Buckhorn.

“I am really proud of our defensive effort tonight,” Huntsville coach Christian Schweers said. “We played with a lot of toughness and were able to execute our game plan with max effort. Limiting Johnson was the focal point. He is such a good player and is playing really well right now.”

Huntsville was able to limit Austin to 5 offensive rebounds as the Black Bears had to deal with the Panthers lineup of players standing 6-10, 6-9, 6-7, 6-5 and 6-5. For the game, Huntsville outrebounded Austin 26-21 and forced 15 turnovers. The winners shot 49 percent from the floor while limiting Austin to 28 percent shooting.

In the semifinals, Huntsville beat Hazel Green 47-37 with Harrison scored 27 points, hitting 11-of-13 from the floor.

Austin beat Buckhorn 69-59 in the semifinals with Johnson’s 30 points leading the way. Caleb Holt led Buckhorn with 20 points.

Buckhorn 71, Florence 46

On Tuesday, the Bucks got 21 points from Holt and Jeremiah Wilson added 18 in the win over Florence.

Bryant James scored 15 points for Florence with PJ Key adding 10.

Florence 87, Columbia 53

On Monday, the Falcons whipped Columbia as James scored 22 points. Alleick Shipley added 16 and Kedrick Triplett had 12 in the win.

ROBERTSDALE PRE-THANKSGIVING TOURNAMENT

Williamson 61, Robertsdale 35

The Lions knocked off the host team on Monday with Mikel Bonner leading the way with 14 points. Corien Hawthorne-Coleman added 13 for Williamson.

Tanner Williams led Robertsdale (3-3) with 11 points.

In other first-round action, Moss Point (Miss.) beat Alma Bryant 61-52 in two overtimes, Hillcrest-Evergreen beat Faith Academy 66-55 and Fairhope topped Cottage Hill 63-33.

THOMPSON THANKSGIVING INVITATIONAL

Helena 75, Prattville 55

Ty Bryant led Prattville with 12 points as the Lions lost on Wednesday at Thompson. Xavier Dunn led the Lions with 9 rebounds in the loss.

On Tuesday, Briarwood Christian topped Prattville 73-50, with Dunn leading the Lions with 11 points and 4 rebounds.

On Monday, Chelsea beat Prattville 74-50. Avery Futch poured in 23 points to lead Chelsea to the win on Monday. Christen Whetstone added 10 for the Hornets.

Bryant scored 16 points with 3 assists for Prattville and Tyler Smith added 9.

COACH LARRY CHAPMAN FOUNDATION TIP OFF CLASSIC

JAG 70, Montgomery Academy 65

The host team fell in the championship game to JAG, formerly Jeff Davis High, on Wednesday.

All-tournament pick Skyler Stovall led Montgomery Academy with 27 points – 21 in the second half. The 6-3 junior guard also had 7 rebounds, 6 assists and 3 steals. All-tourney pick Brewer Welch tossed in 18 points with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Seth Edwards had 14 points with 4 rebounds. All-tournament pick DJ Vinson had 14 rebounds and 4 blocks to go with 6 points for the 4-1 Eagles.

Pike Road beat Brewbaker Tech 54-50 for third place and Alabama Christian took seventh place with a 60-39 win over Notasuga.

Other members of the all-tournament team were Cade Segars, Prattville Christian; Nakeal Bynum, Lanett; Jaden Davis, Pike Road; Kevin Honer, Brew Tech; Darrell Stewart, JAG; Ladarius Givan, JAG; and MVP Ethan Friendly, JAG.

Mac Moorer of Alabama Christian was chosen as the winner of the Coach Larry Chapman Character Award.

Montgomery Academy 64, Brewbaker Tech 53

The Eagles earned their spot in the championship game with the win over Brewbaker Tech on Tuesday as Stovall scored 27 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and made 4 steals with 4 assists.

Vinson dominated the backboards with 20 rebounds to go with his 14 points and he had 4 blocks. Welch scored 14 points with four 3-pointers. He also had 8 assists and 6 rebounds.

On Monday, Montgomery Academy whipped Lanett 74-46 to open the tournament. Stovall poured in 25 points and Vinson had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds to lead the host team. Stovall also grabbed 9 rebounds with 3 assists and 3 steals and Vinson had 4 blocks and 3 assists.

Edwards scored 14 points with 8 rebounds for the Eagles. Welch had 9 points, 9 assists and 4 steals for Montgomery Academy.

Lanett 61, Prattville Christian 55

Lanett knocked off the Panthers on Wednesday for fifth place, despite 23 points from all-tournament selection Cade Segars’ 23 points for Prattville Christian (2-3).

PJ Evans dished out 11 assists and had 11 rebounds in the loss.

Prattville Christian 54, Alabama Christian 44

Cade Segars led the Panthers to the win on Tuesday, scoring 18 points. Collier Connell added 13 points with 4 rebounds. Brady Roberson hauled in 16 rebounds to go with 7 points. PJ Evans had 7 points, 7 rebounds and 7 steals and Lathan Rybarczyk also had 7 rebounds.

On Monday, Pike Road beat Prattville Christian 57-41. Segars scored 19 points to lead Prattville Christian and Connell added 16. Evans had 6 assists in the loss.

RED & WHITE TURKEY SHOOTOUT

New Hope (Miss.) 56, Central-Tuscaloosa 41

The visitors from Columbus, Miss., topped the host Falcons on Tuesday in the tournament title game.

JJ Warren led New Hope with 15 points and Jahden Smith added 10 for the Trojans.

King Larkin scored 19 points for Central. Deundre Grant had 10.

On Tuesday, Central beat Holt 53-26 as Thaddeus Long scored 17 points and grabbed 3 rebounds.

Keyon Adams scored 17 points to lead Holt.

The host team rolled to a 56-18 win over Brookwood on Monday, led by a balanced scoring attack.

Long led Central with 12 points. Phillip Odom Jr. and Tyler Colvin added 11 points apiece for the Falcons.

Jacob Rowell led Brookwood with 7 points.

SPARTAN TURKEY JAM

Mountain Brook 60, Spain Park 44

The Spartans captured their tournament title with the win on Tuesday. Tournament MVP Ty Davis scored 24 points with 10 assists and 3 steals for Mountain Brook.

John Webb tossed in 18 points and had 4 rebounds in the win.

Theodore 59, Sipsey Valley 38

JJ Bush recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds as the Bobcats beat Sipsey Valley on Tuesday. Houston Cunningham scored 17 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had 4 assists and 4 steals for Theodore.

The Bobcats are 3-3 and will play at Davidson on Tuesday.

MARX OPTICAL THANKSGIVING CLASSIC

Hartselle 48, Priceville 32

Hartselle led throughout, carrying a 21-14 edge into halftime and a 35-27 advantage after three quarters in the win over the host team on Tuesday.

Marcus Tapscott scored 15 points – 12 in the second half – to lead Hartselle. Ty Odom and Rylan Smothers scored 11 points apiece in the win. Odom made three 3-pointers.

Sammy Smothers scored 10 of his 12 points in the second half for Priceville, with a pair of 3-pointers. Colman Gann scored 9 for the Bulldogs.

On Monday, Hartselle rolled past Madison County 81-29. The Tigers poured in 39 points in the second period to carry a 53-20 lead into halftime.

Ten players scored in the win, led by Odom’s 18. Odom scored 14 points in the second quarter with three 3-pointers. Kohl Key scored 15 in the win with four 3-pointers and three free throws. Smothers scored 13 for Hartselle.

Ashton Pugh and Jonathan Jacobs led Madison County with 6 points apiece.

WINFIELD LIONS CLUB TOURNAMENT

Decatur Heritage 56, Sulligent 43

The Eagles outscored Sulligent 13-2 in the second period to pull away to a 28-13 halftime lead on the way to the win at Winfield, beating the Blue Devils in their season-opener.

Nash Thomas was one rebound away from a triple double for Decatur Heritage, scoring 15 points, grabbing 10 steals and hauling in 9 rebounds. The sophomore also had 3 assists. Hayden Page scored 12 points and had 7 rebounds. Paxton Tarver had 8 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals.

Hunter Wood led Sulligent with 13 points. Tyler Tucker added 10 in the loss.

HERITAGE CLASSIC THANKSGIVING TOURNAMENT

Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa 65, Midfield 48

Hillcrest downed Midfield in the tournament at Fairfield on Tuesday. Armonie Franklin led Midfield with 17 points and 5 rebounds. Jaden Sellers scored 7 in the loss.

On Monday, Midfield whipped Center Point 52-27. Aaron Adams-Martin led the Patriots with 22 points. He also had 7 rebounds. Franklin dished out 10 assists to go with 5 rebounds and 7 points.

GIRLS

BATTLE AT THE BEACH THANKSGIVING TOURNAMENT

Gulf Shores 49, Cornerstone 19

The Dolphins finished undefeated in the three-day tournament at home on Tuesday and are 7-1 on the season.

Senior point guard Maya Griffin scored 18 points and had 4 assists in the rout. Senior Maggie Myers had 11 points, hitting three 3-pointers for Gulf Shores.

The Dolphins had seven players score in the win.

Earlier on Tuesday, the Dolphins edged Pensacola (Fla.) 52-47, with three players finishing in double figures.

Myers and junior Keyona Royal led the way with 15 points each for Gulf Shores. Alyssa Thompson added 10 in the win. Griffin had 5 assists for the Dolphins.

On Monday, Gulf Shores beat Clarke County 56-36 and St. Paul’s 50-35.

Royal led all scorers with 20 points against Clarke County, notching her second double-double of the day with 11 rebounds for the host team.

Myers hit three 3-pointers on her way to 13 points for Gulf Shores. Griffin had 11 points and 6 assists.

Aleah Watkins led Clarke County with 9 points.

In their first game of the tournament, the Dolphins trailed 22-21 at halftime before pulling away in the third period to beat St. Paul’s. Gulf Shores outscored the Saints 16-2 in the third quarter.

Griffin scored 16 points to lead the Dolphins and Royal pitched in 12 points with 17 rebounds.

Clarissa Dupree led St. Paul’s with 10 points.

Daphne 74, North Sand Mountain 70

The Trojans captured the tournament title with the win over North Sand Mountain on Tuesday, improving to 7-0 on the season with the 3-0 run at Gulf Shores.

Kiera Watson registered a double-double to lead Daphne in the title game, scoring 21 points and hauling in 14 rebounds. La’Merrica Johnson scored 18 points and Addison Luker scored 17 with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Abby Johnson contributed 9 points with 3 assists in the win.

On Monday, the Trojans beat Fort Walton (Fla.) 48-24. Luker scored 15 points and had 3 steals and Johnson scored 10 points and also had 3 steals.

Prattville Christian 57, Brewbaker Tech 31

The Panthers got 20 points, 4 rebounds and 4 assists from tournament MVP Avery Rogers in the title game win over Brew Tech on Wednesday.

Kayden Carr scored 16 points and had 4 rebounds in the win at Montgomery Academy. Jenna McClendon grabbed 12 rebounds to go with 9 points for Prattville Christian (5-0).

Carr and Baylee Rogers were named to the all-tournament team and Rogers was selected as the Larry Chapman Sportsmanship Award winner.

In the semifinals, Prattville Christian whipped Pike Road 52-30. Avery Rogers tossed in 22 points and claimed 5 rebounds for the Panthers. Carr had 16 points, 5 steals and 4 rebounds.

Ally Blankinchip had 5 rebounds and 5 steals in the win.

On Monday, Prattville Christian topped St. James 48-40 to open the tournament.

Avery Rogers scored 21 to lead Prattville Christian to the win. Baylee Rogers scored 15 and had 5 rebounds for the Panthers. Jenna McClendon notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win. Carr and Blankinchip had 5 assists each for Prattville Christian.

Boaz 42, Sand Rock 40

On Tuesday, Katelyn St.Clair scored 21 points in the narrow loss to Boaz – Sand Rock’s first of the season. Zoey Handy had a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for Sand Rock.

Kennedy Henderson claimed 11 rebounds for Sand Rock.

On Monday, Sand Rock topped 81-66. St.Clair led the winners with 20 points, 9 assists and 6 steals.

Peyton Johnson and Chloe Stephens scored 17 points each for the winners, with Stephens also grabbing 7 rebounds. Handy scored 15 points with 9 rebounds and 5 steals.

HIGHLAND HOME TURKEY DAY CLASSIC

Brantley 41, Hillcrest-Evergreen 37

Alex Grimes scored 15 points to lead Brantley to the win on Monday in the first Highland Home Turkey Day Classic. Coco Stamps added 11 points for the Bulldogs.

Brantley improved to 3-1 on the year.

ENCORE THANKSGIVING CLASSIC

James Clemens 53, Priceville 41

Gabrielle Stigger pitched in 18 points to lead the Jets past Priceville on Wednesday at Hartselle. James Clemens led 14-8 after one quarter, 25-18 at the half and 40-30 headed into the fourth.

Kimory Porter and Brooke McNeal scored 10 points each for James Clemens.

Abby Langlois led Priceville with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Ashlyn Johnson added 9 points for the Bulldogs (1-4).

Cold Springs 62, Priceville 54

The Eagles used a big third quarter to beat Priceville at Hartselle on Tuesday. Cold Springs pulled away from a 30-27 halftime lead with an 18-9 third quarter.

Maci Brown and Ella Dickerson scored 19 points each to lead Cold Springs. Malaya Taylor scored 15 in the win.

Langlois poured in 26 points to lead Priceville (1-3). She also had 9 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Gracin Prater scored 10 points and had 5 assists for Priceville. Johnson had 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

TERRELL ACADEMY (GA.) TOURNAMENT

Lakeside 49, Southland 48

The Chiefs evened their record at 3-3 with the win over Southland on Tuesday in the tournament in Dawson, Ga. Addy Helms provided the winning margin with a free throw with just seconds remaining in the game.

Chloe Helms led the winners with 20 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Ninth-grader Addy Eriksen had a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds. Sophie Seaborn scored 8 points with 4 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals for Lakeside.

Host team Terrell Academy beat Lakeside 52-29 on Monday.

Chloe Helms led Lakeside with 17 points. She also had 4 rebounds and 3 assists. Eriksen grabbed 10 rebounds and had 4 blocks for the Chiefs.

INSIDE EXPOSURE THANKSGIVING INVITATIONAL

Sumner (Fla.) 53, Lee-Huntsville 52

Sumner of Riverview, Fla., hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer, rallying to outscore Lee-Huntsville 15-11 in the fourth quarter to edge the Generals in the tournament in Jacksonville, Fla., on Tuesday. Lee led 24-22 at the half and 41-38 headed into the final quarter.

Londan Harris led Lee with 21 points and 6 rebounds. Lamiya Batimba had a double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.

SUPREME COURTS THANKSGIVING SHOOT OUT

Danville 60, Hokes Bluff 36

Adily Alberti scored 16 points to lead the Hawks to the win on Wednesday. Alberti also had 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

Reagan Prater scored 14 points in the win.

On Tuesday, Danville beat Tharptown 63-38 with Alberti pitching in 22 points and contributing 5 steals. Prater scored 12 points with 6 steals and 5 rebounds. Madalyn McCreless added 9 points in the win.

Homewood 60, Calera 30

The Patriots won their eighth straight game after a season-opening loss, topping Calera at home on Monday.

Sophomore Lane Crowe led Homewood with 18 points. Ellis McCool, another sophomore, added 13 in the win.

Mobile Christian 35, Mary G. Montgomery 30

The Leopards picked up the home win on Monday to improve to 6-0 on the season. Trenity Jenkins-Gaines led Mobile Christian, tossing in 18 points with 5 steals.

Daysha Broughton scored 10 points to lead the Vikings.

Huntsville 61, Decatur 39

The Panthers improved to 6-1 on the season with the win at Wallace State-Hanceville on Tuesday. Senior forward Virginia Hawkins led Huntsville with 21 points with 6 rebounds.

Abby Johnson scored 14 points in the win.
