After you’ve downed some turkey, loosened your belt, and kicked the legs out on your recliner, it’ll be time for the Egg Bowl between Ole Miss and Mississippi State. This heated rivalry game is one of the longest-running in American sports, played every year since 1944.

College Football Week 13 Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State odds preview

The Rebels lead the series vs. the Bulldogs 64-46-6, and Mississippi State is looking to retain the Golden Egg after winning 24-22 last season. Since 2013, each team has won five times and five matchups have been decided by one possession.

Ole Miss has an opportunity to win 10 games for the second time since 2016. The Rebels have the 17th-highest-scoring offense in FBS but failed to take down Alabama and Georgia, removing Ole Miss from SEC Championship contention.

The Bulldogs are 5-6 and another defeat would end Mississippi State’s chances to make a bowl game. MSU has been abysmal in SEC play, going 1-6 vs. conference foes, and the lone win came vs. Arkansas, who also has one SEC win.

When Mississippi State won the Egg Bowl in 2022, rumors about Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss to join Auburn may have caused distractions in the locker room. This year, the Bulldogs are fighting to remain focused after the firing of Zach Arnett.

Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State best bets and odds: Ole Miss -10 (-110 or better)

Jaxson Dart played well against the Bulldogs a season ago, completing 79% of his passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns. However, Dart was limited as a rusher, totaling -4 yards on 10 carries.

The Utah native must be at his best in both facets of the game for Ole Miss to win and earn a spot in a New Year’s Six bowl. Scoring shouldn’t be hard to come by against a Mississippi State defense allowing 27 points per game, third-worst in the SEC.

The Bulldogs also have one of the worst offenses in the conference and have failed to eclipse 14 points in their previous three games vs. power-five teams. We’re predicting the Golden Egg to head back to Oxford following a hefty Ole Miss victory.

Ole Miss vs. Mississippi State best bets and odds: Quinshon Judkins first touchdown scorer (+320 or better)

Quinshon Judkins has been one of the most effective running backs in the SEC, ranking first in touchdowns and fifth in yards. The sophomore has found the endzone in all but two games this season.

Judkins was solid vs. Mississippi State last year, gaining 4.1 yards a carry and totaling 91 yards. MSU has been weak against the run, surrendering 140 yards per game, and has recently been gashed for 246 yards and 186 yards by Texas A&M and Auburn, respectively.
