Why John Cena comes to Hoover when he needs surgery
Actor and professional wrestler John Cena has completed a second surgery in Alabama on his arms at Andrews Sports Medicine.
Cena, 46, in a post on the social media platform X Tuesday, notified his fans of the latest procedure.
On Nov. 10, Cena made a similar announcement about his first surgery:
A native of New York, Dr. Jeff Dugas specializes in shoulder, elbow and knee injuries, according to his biography at the Andrews Sports Medicine website.
He serves as a team physician for several schools, including Troy University, Vestavia Hills High School, Bessemer Academy, Calera High School, Clay-Chalkville High School, Cordova High School, Gardendale High School, Oakman High School and Shades Valley High School.
He has been named one of Birmingham’s Best Doctors for ten consecutive years.
In 2016, Cena underwent surgery to repair injuries to his right shoulder at the Andrews Sports Medicine and Orthopaedic Center.
The successful procedure took about an hour. After healing, Cena worked on his range of motion before bearing weight on his shoulder.
“The first hurdle is getting the cuts to heal and getting cartilage to form over the defect,” Dugas said at the time. “After that, we’ll get back to function.”
Cena had a match on Nov. 4, according to Wrestling, Inc., as the just-concluded SAG-AFTRA actor’s strike had him sidelined from in front of the camera.
