Prichard woman reportedly confessed to murdering grandson, who was a convicted felon
A 76-year-old Prichard woman charged with the murder of her 38-year-old grandson last week confessed to the killing, according to documents filed in Mobile County District Court.
Mary Alice Jordan was taken into custody at her home on Circle Drive last Wednesday afternoon. The victim was identified as her grandson, Dana De’Anthony Jordan.
Court records indicate Mary Jordan “was upset with him from (the) previous night,” in reference to her grandson, and that she confessed to shooting him. The court notes also suggest Mary Jordan may be suffering from dementia.
In 2003, Dana De’Anthony Jordan was sentenced to 20 years (17 suspended) for the attempted murder of Prichard police officer Rodney Wilson. He served additional time for the 2004 assault of a Mobile County corrections officer. He had a lengthy record of other arrests, including domestic violence charges, drug charges, multiple counts of being a felon in possession of a weapon and receiving stolen property, among others.
Mary Alice Jordan remained in Mobile Metro Jail as of Tuesday afternoon, held under $100,000 bond. She is due back in court Wednesday morning.
A call to Prichard police seeking additional information went unanswered Tuesday afternoon.
