Red Land Cotton, 1818 Farms join forces for unique product bundles
Two female-owned, Alabama-based businesses with roots in the state’s agricultural heritage have chosen the holiday season to collaborate in a limited edition product offering.
Red Land Cotton of Moulton, and 1818 Farms of Mooresville, have launched the “Bedtime Bundle” and “Bathtime Bundle” – two collections of each brand’s premium products.
“You don’t have to go far to find really talented people in Alabama using local resources to create awesome things,” said Anna Brakefield of Red Land Cotton. Brakefield and her father Mark Yeager formed the company in 2017, using cotton from the family farm in Moulton to make luxury sheets, blankets, towels and more.
“A collaboration needs to make sense,” said Natsha McCrary, owner and founder of 1818 Farms, which offers a line of award-winning bath and beauty products. “These products go so well together. You want to be a natural fit. If I’m going to collaborate with someone, it’s going be a product that I believe in. I wouldn’t align myself with someone who didn’t have the same values. This has gone really well.”
Brakefield and McCrary have known each other for several years. They share several connections – businesses on family farms where the product materials are grown, female-owned ventures, specialty products in the self-care market. When Red Land Cotton opened its store front in 2017, 1818 Farms’ Lavender Spray was on the shelves.
Occasionally meeting at trade shows, the two women supported each other, with the idea that they might work a little closer in the future.
But their collaboration began following a conversation earlier this year. A photo shot for Red Land Cotton at 1818 Farms, which is named for the year Mooresville was incorporated, opened the door.
“It was just timing,” McCrary said.
The Bedtime Bundle includes the All-American Throw Blanket from Red Land Cotton, a lightweight woven blanket with fringe trim made from cotton grown on the Brakefield family farm.
There’s also 1818 Farms’ Nightly Care and Relaxation Gift Box, which includes its award-winning Shea Creme, Clover’s Lip Smack, Counting Sheep Linen & Room Spray, Cuticle Balm and the Argan Face Serum, a product dubbed by Southern Living as one of its all-time favorite skincare products.
The set, priced at $189, includes a step-by-step guide to using the products.
The Bathtime Bundle includes two washcloths, two hand towels and two bath towels from Red Land Cotton. The luxury towels feature a waffle weave pattern with a simple terry hem finish. The loops are made in Red Land Cotton’s signature 2-ply yarn.
Included in the bundle is 1818 Farms Favorites Gift Box, which includes Shea Creme, Cuticle Balm, Clover’s Lip Smack, Oatmeal Milk & Honey Soap, Refreshing Shower Mist, Wax Sachet, Luffa Sponge and Pressed Flower Resin Art.
The bundle is priced at $199.
Both sets are available on redlandcotton.com and 1818farms.com.
Initial reaction has been very positive and encouraging, the two owners say.
“It’s so easy,” McCrary said. “It’s a great way to spread a message and get different customers in your back pocket. We’re 30 minutes from their headquarters, so it’s easy to get the products together. And I think seeing the excitement from our customers has been thrilling.”
“The feedback has been so good I can’t see it just being a one-off,” Brakefield said.
