Alabama leaders pay tribute to Rosalynn Carterâs âlegacy of grace, grit, and goodwillâ
Alabama lawmakers paid tribute to former First Lady Rosalynn Carter for a lifetime of service in and out of government.
Carter, 96, died Sunday at 2:10 p.m. at her home in Plains, Ga.
She died peacefully, with family by her side, according to a statement from the Carter Center.
Carter was married for 77 years to Jimmy Carter, the 39th president of the United States and the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize recipient, who is now 99 years old.
Sen. Katie Boyd Britt, on a posting on the social media platform X, said Carter lived “an incredible life.”
