Saturday west Birmingham gunfire victim identified
Birmingham police have identified an Adamsville man as the victim in a fatal shooting Saturday afternoon in west Birmingham.
Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said Lakevin Ralpheal Debruce, 22, died following a shooting that occurred at 4:01 p.m. in the 2600 block of Avenue C in Birmingham.
Debruce died at UAB Hospital.
Someone in the area heard gunfire and then saw the victim fall out of a vehicle into the roadway. That witness called 911.
Debruce was one of three men killed in Birmingham in a 13-hour period.
He is Birmingham’s 121st confirmed homicide this year. Of those, one was an officer-involved shooting by an outside law enforcement agency, and eight others have been ruled justifiable.
In all of Jefferson County there have been 167 homicides, including the 121 in Birmingham.
