Small-batch craft doughnut and coffee shop Parlor Doughnuts is headed to downtown Birmingham and Gulf Shores.

Parlor Doughnuts has signed a lease with mixed-use development 20 Midtown but has not yet provided its plans to the development or with the city, said Dick Schmalz of RGS Properties, Inc.

Schmalz said he expects Parlor Doughnuts to open at 2038 Third Ave. South within the next six months.

Parlor also signed a lease at 600 Gulf Shores Pkwy. in Gulf Shores, according to Vallas Realty Inc., which represents the property owner. It’s unclear when the bakery will open up there.

Parlor Doughnuts’ lease at 20 Midtown comes on the heels of another tenant signing: Outback Steakhouse.

“We’re abut 75 percent leased in the retail portion of our current building and of course 100 percent of our first two buildings in retail, and we’re trying to be very, very selective now that we’re getting fewer and fewer spaces to lease,” said Schmalz. “So we’re excited to bring them and the other tenants that we’ve brought so far.”

Parlor Doughnuts, founded in 2019 in Indiana, operates in 12 states, including Alabama.

The bakery has a shop at 2500 Clinton Ave. West in Huntsville.

It offers 20 varieties of layered doughnuts that come in vegan-, gluten- and keto-friendly options along with a Doggie Doughnut for man’s best friend.
