Is $17,000 chump change to you? These Unclaimed Baggage items cost more than a Birkin bag

Unclaimed Baggage, the north Alabama store selling items that came from abandoned luggage at airports and elsewhere, announced a rare find on Friday: a Hermès Birkin 25 bag.

The Scottsboro store put the bag up for sale at $17,000 (shipping is free.)

A five-figure item being sold at Unclaimed Baggage is “pretty rare in comparison to the other thousands of items stocked in-store and online each week well below this price point, although it does happen,” said spokeswoman Sonni Hood.

Among high-priced items at Unclaimed Baggage, “finding a Birkin is definitely a rare occurrence and has only happened three times in store history,” Hood said.

Birkin 25s, released in 2014, are Hermès’ most highly sought after Birkin, according to Sotheby’s.

New Birkin 25s go for between $25,000 and $30,000 depending on color and style, according to the auction house, making Unclaimed Baggage’s bag a veritable steal.

While the Birkin 25 up for sale will cost a pretty penny, it’s not even the most expensive item you can buy at Unclaimed Baggage right now.

Not surprisingly, the three items that will set you back more than $17,000 are all jewelry:

10K gold Cuban link diamond necklace

This 22-inch gold and diamond chain is up for sale at $18,486.99, or 40 percent off its appraised value of $30,810.

But none of those will come close to Unclaimed Baggage’s record for the most expensive item it has sold.

That title goes to a men’s platinum presidential Rolex watch Unclaimed Baggage sold in 2014.

The pricy timepiece, which retailed at $64,000, was sold by Unclaimed Baggage for $32,000.
