A man and woman were killed Monday when they lost control of their vehicle and crashed while fleeing the scene of another wreck, police said.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified that fatality victims as Jeremy Shane Waldrop, 46, and Rebecca LeeAnn Poe, 43. Both Waldrop and Poe lived in Pell City.

The fatal crash happened at 10:01 a.m. on Interstate 59 northbound at mile marker 142 in Trussville.

Trussville police Chief Eric Rush said the pair struck another vehicle on Interstate 459 and left the scene. They later lost control of their vehicle and flipped numerous times.

Poe was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:23 a.m. Waldrop was pronounced dead on the scene at 10:28 a.m.
