A man was shot and killed by Mobile police Monday morning during an attempt to execute a search warrant, according to reports from Mobile-area television stations.

Although Mobile police had yet to issue a statement by midday Monday, the reports say narcotics and SWAT team personnel forced their way into the home on Sheringham Drive, off Cottage Hill Road.

Officers reportedly found the suspect with a weapon, although whether he pointed the weapon at officers or fired at them is unknown at this point.

After he was shot by police, the man, currently unidentified, was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
