Auburn NFL roundup: Roger McCreary gets interception

Cornerback Roger McCreary had missed the Tennessee Titans’ past two games because of a hamstring injury. He returned to the lineup on Sunday and made a big play early against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In addition to his five tackles in the game, the former Williamson High School star made his second career interception.

McCreary picked off Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield on a deep pass into the end zone and returned it 18 yards to the Tampa Bay 17-yard line with 5:02 left in the first quarter.

The Titans had a 3-0 lead at the time. But Tennessee’s offense managed only 209 yards and couldn’t keep the Titans in the game as Tampa Bay posted a 20-6 victory.

Tennessee hasn’t given up more than 27 points in any game this season but has a 3-6 record.

McCreary’s first interception came off Patrick Mahomes in a 20-17 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Nov. 6, 2022.
