Alabama earns commitment from 5-star in-state 2025 prospect

Charles Henderson five-star EDGE Zion Grady committed to Alabama this afternoon.

The junior chose the Crimson Tide over Auburn, Georgia and Florida State.

Grady (6-4, 220) is Alabama’s eighth commitment in the Class of 2025.

He is the fourth-ranked junior in the state of Alabama, according to the 247 Composite rankings, behind fellow Alabama commit Ryan Williams of Saraland, uncommitted Parker DB Na’eem Offord and Georgia OT commit Micah DeBose of Vigor.

In addition to Williams and Grady, Alabama also has in-state 2025 commits from Saraland defensive tackle Antonio Coleman and T.R. Miller athlete Myles Johnson. Grady is No. 35 nationally according to the On3 Industry rankings and is No. 3 at his position.

Grady has 70 tackles for the Trojans (7-3) this season, including 21 for a loss. He also had 9 sacks and 20 QB hurries. He will lead his team against Class 5A No. 1 Gulf Shores on Friday in the second round of the playoffs.

As a sophomore, he finished with 108 tackles, 22 sacks, 37 tackles for a loss and 27 hurries. He also had 3 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries and 3 blocked field goals and earned the Alabama Sports Writers Association Class 5A Lineman of the Year Award.

Grady’s commitment on Sunday was a way to honor his late father, Robert Brady Sr., on his birthday.

“It means a lot to me,” Grady said told 247 sports. “He had passed when I was younger. I was planning to do this since the ninth grade. I just wanted to do it to celebrate him.”
