The other player is Northwestern RB Evan Hull.

The Wildcats defeated Mississippi State 31-24 on Sept. 14, 2019, LSU 42-20 in the Texas Bowl on Jan. 4, 2022, and Missouri 40-12 on Sept. 10, 2022. The Wildcats have lost six fumbles and thrown four interceptions for their 10 turnovers. Kansas State has recovered eight of its opponents’ fumbles and intercepted 16 passes for its 24 takeaways.

15 TD passes and two interceptions in 2022 for QB Will Howard, who for the third straight season has entered the Kansas State lineup as an injury replacement. In his four starts this season, Howard has completed 69-of-117 passes for 1,002 yards with 10 TDs and one interception. Adrian Martinez, Kansas State’s original starting quarterback, has returned to practice and will be available to Saturday’s game. Martinez had 6 TD passes and one interception and ran for 615 yards and 10 TDs in nine games during the regular season.

The Tide needs one victory in 2022 to extend the longest streak of 11-win seasons in NCAA FBS history to 12.

17 Sugar Bowl appearances for Alabama when the Crimson Tide takes the field on Friday. The Crimson Tide will have four more appearances in the game than any other program. Alabama also holds the Sugar Bowl record with nine victories, and its seven losses are tied with LSU for the most in that category. Alabama most recently played in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, 2018, when it defeated Clemson 24-6 in a CFP semifinal game.

Joe Paterno had a 24-12-1 bowl record at Penn State, and Bobby Bowden had a 22-10-1 bowl record at West Virginia and Florida State. Saban’s bowl record has been 0-3 at Michigan State, 3-2 at LSU and 15-6 at Alabama. With the Crimson Tide, three of Saban’s losses have come in the Sugar Bowl and three in the CFP championship game.

Tua Tagovailoa (2017-19) holds the Crimson Tide career record with 87 TD passes. AJ McCarron (2010-13) ranks second with 77. Tagovailoa had held the school record for consecutive games with a TD pass at 24.

62 Tackles for loss by LB Will Anderson Jr., the second-most in Alabama history. The only player with more is Derrick Thomas, who had 68 for the Crimson Tide from 1985 through 1988. Anderson also ranks second on the Crimson Tide’s all-time sacks list with 34.5. Thomas holds the record with 52.

76 Bowl appearances for Alabama when the Crimson Tide takes the field for the Sugar Bowl on Friday. No other program had more than 58 bowl appearances heading into the 2022 postseason. With a 45-27-3 record, Alabama has the most bowl victories, too.

77 Previous Sugar Bowls have featured at least one SEC team. Three games matched SEC members (and each included Ole Miss). SEC representatives have a 38-35-1 record in the Sugar Bowl against teams from other conferences. Teams from the Big 12 and its predecessor conferences have a 10-5 record against SEC opponents in the Sugar Bowl, part of a 12-7 overall mark.

99 Victories and 46 losses for Alabama coach Nick Saban in games against opponents ranked in the AP Poll. Saban has the most coaching victories against ranked opponents after passing former Penn State coach Joe Paterno, who had an 86-82 record against ranked teams.

295 Games have been played by Alabama since it was most recently shut out, a school record and the third-longest scoring streak in SEC history. Alabama’s most recent shutout loss came 9-0 to Auburn on Nov. 18, 2000. Florida has a 436-game scoring streak going, and Georgia has scored in its past 357 games. The Crimson Tide’s scoring streak is tied for the 14th-longest in major-college football history.

441 Punt-return yards for Alabama in 2022, the most in the nation entering the bowl season. The Crimson Tide has averaged 16.7 yards on 26 returns this season. Kansas State has allowed 40 yards on eight punt returns in 2022.
