Armed South Carolina man shot to death by law enforcement officers following southeast Alabama chase

A South Carolina man was shot to death by law enforcement officers in southeast Alabama.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency on Thursday identified the man as Cameron Alan Eaton. He was 33 and lived Blacksburg.

The fatal shooting happened about 11:45 a.m. Tuesday.

Senior Trooper Kendra McKinney said the shooting was the result of a pursuit that began in Eufaula with Eufaula police officers and Barbour County sheriff’s deputies.

The chase entered Henry County, and Henry County deputies joined in.

The pursuit ended in Headland where authorities say Eaton wrecked his vehicle and brandished a gun. He was then fatally shot.

McKinney did not say which law enforcement agency’s officer fired the shots.

No officers were injured.

The investigation is ongoing by the State Bureau of Investigation and will be turned over to the Henry County District Attorney’s Office once the probe is complete.
