A Birmingham police officer was injured in a crash with a pickup truck Thursday afternoon.

The wreck happened at 1:44 p.m. at 19th Street and Avenue V in Ensley.

Sgt. LaQuitta Wade said the pickup truck – which had an extended flatbed – collided with an unmarked police Chevrolet Impala. The impact was on the front driver’s ide of the officer’s car.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service transported the officer to an undisclosed hospital. The extent of the officer’s injuries was not released.

The truck driver was not injured.
