Veterans Day 2023 falls on Saturday, Nov. 11. However, many are celebrating on Friday, Nov. 10. Does that include my bank?

Most banks will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10 or Saturday, Nov. 11 for Veterans Day. Some banks, like Wells Fargo, Bank of America and PNC, are open regular hours on Friday and will be closed on Saturday. Capital One, however, will be closed Friday and will be open Saturday.

The holiday used to be known as Armistice Day, and it was recognized as an official holiday in 1938 by Congress. It first honored veterans of World War I. In 1954, after World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day was changed to Veterans Day to honor veterans of all wars.

The following banks are scheduled to be closed:

• Bank of America (closed or modified hours on Nov. 11; varies by branch)
• Capital One Bank (closed on Nov. 10)
• Chase (closed on Nov. 11)
• Citibank (closed on Nov. 10)
• PNC Bank (closed on Nov. 11)
• Truist Bank (closed on Nov. 11)
• Wells Fargo (closed on Nov. 10)
