QB is Week 11 Hollis Wright Birmingham Player of the Week
A pair of quarterbacks and a quarterback’s top target were the top three vote-getters in the final regular season Hollis Wright Birmingham Football Player of the Week poll.
Leeds quarterback Conner Nelson earned 72 percent of the 33,417 ballots cast in Week 11. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound junior ran for 152 yards and passed for another 110 in a 22-0 win over Center Point.
Will Myers, the Homewood quarterback, completed 5-of-6 passes for 118 yards and a touchdowns and ran eight times for 156 yards and three scores in a 38-14 win over Jasper. Myers was second in the voting.
Senior wide receiver Jonathan Bibbs caught five passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns in a 39-0 win over Pelham as the Jaguars closed out the regular season at 7-3 with their fifth straight win.
Voting for the Hollis Wright Football Player of the Week opens on Sundays during the season and runs through Wednesday. Nominees are determined from statistics submitted by coaches or official team statisticians before noon each Saturday.
In Week 11, more than 41,000 votes were cast across the three AL.com player of the week polls.
