A single-vehicle crash in Chilton County left one man dead.

Mariano V. Rico, 57, was killed when his Chevrolet Impala left the road and hit a tree.

Alabama State Troopers said the crash happened at 4:40 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 21, about one mile south of Jemison.

Trooper Sgt. Jeremy Burkett said Rico, of Jemison, was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash. He was pronounced dead on the scene.
