Will Donald Trump take part in Republican debate tonight?

While Donald Trump is leading the polls, the former president will not take part in the third Republican primary debate set for Wednesday, Nov. 8. The event will be live streamed on DirecTV Stream (free trial), fuboTV (free trial) and SlingTV (half off first month).

Trump will again skip the debate in Miami, instead holding a rally in a nearby suburb. He said he won’t participate due to his large lead in national and early state polls.

With voting set to start in leadoff Iowa in January, no one has thus far been able to shake Trump’s dominance of the Republican primary. Many of the candidates have gone after each other hoping to break out as a viable alternative to the former president, emphasizing their differences on foreign policy but also ripping Trump for his criticisms of the Israeli prime minister and claims that a group attacking Israel was “very smart.”

Trump’s campaign rally in a South Florida suburb is aimed at trying to upstage his Republican presidential rivals while they debate in nearby Miami. For his Wednesday night event, the former president has picked Hialeah, which is central to South Florida’s politically influential Cuban community and is all in for Trump. A City Council candidate used Trump’s image on his own campaign signs. People near polling stations this week wore red “Make America Great Again” hats and drove around in pickup trucks with flags bearing Trump’s name. Trump’s supporters were camped out more than a day in advance to get into the site where he’s set to appear.

When is the Republican debate?

The third Republican debate starts at 7 p.m. (8 p.m. ET) on Wednesday, Nov. 9.

The following will participate in the debate:

  • Tech entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy
  • Former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley
  • South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott

Who is moderating the debate?

“Meet the Press” moderator Kristen Welker, “NBC Nightly News” anchor Lester Holt and radio host Hugh Hewitt will moderate the debate.
