Fringe college football playoff contenders lurking, from Penn State to Oklahoma State: College Football Survivor Show

COLLEGE FOOTBALL, USA — On this episode of The College Football Survivor Show, Doug Lesmerises and Shehan Jeyarajah are giving a little love to the fringe playoff contenders with paths that aren’t quite as clear as the primary teams.

They define seven teams as primary contenders, with obvious talent and opportunity, and everyone else is eligible to be viewed as one of the fringe teams with the best chances. Which of those fringe teams could be in the thick of the playoff race in November? Doug and Shehan each pick two.

But first, a playoff contender must be booted — is it Baylor or Utah?

Then five teams are discussed as potential additions to the playoff discussion — Oklahoma State, Kansas, UCLA, Oregon and Ole Miss.

Doug and Shehan rank their playoff contenders as usual, and then discuss six games that matter this weekend, from Alabama-Texas A&M to USC-Washington State to, yes, Texas-Oklahoma.
