Lane Kiffin, after Ole Miss beats Texas A&M, makes Georgia joke

Lane Kiffin, moments after his Ole Miss Rebels defeated Texas A&M on Saturday, was asked about what was shaping up as one of the biggest games in school history when the Rebels face Georgia next week.

His response was all Kiffin.

“I didn’t even know who we played, but thanks for reminding me, Kiffin joked. “They’ve got a pretty good defense, too.”

Kiffin had just gotten done explaining what a great defense the Aggies have when he was asked about that question.

“This is one of the best defenses in the country,” he said. “They give people problems and to come away with 38 points today even though we screwed up in the red zone is awesome. All the credit goes to our players. Really cool win.”

The Ole Miss coach just watched his team survive a 38-35 home win over Jimbo Fisher and Texas A&M.

Quinshon Judkins ran for three touchdowns, including the game-winner from a yard out with 1:40 remaining as No. 11 Ole Miss rallied to defeat Texas A&M.

Ole Miss preserved the win on the final play as Zxavian Harris tipped Randy Bond’s 47-yard field-goal attempt.

The Rebels kept pace in the SEC West race. Judkins, who had 102 yards rushing on 23 carries, capped a nine-play, 75-yard drive to give the Rebels the decisive margin. Jaxson Dart was 24 of 33 for 387 yards and two touchdowns.

“Thank God for this opportunity, coaches and players,” he said. “It’s a really cool group of players. For them to show up today and the game go like that, a 10-point swing, and to finish the game is awesome. I’m really proud of our players. Credit to A&M for playing a good game and taking us down to the wire.”
