Texas A&’s Turner ejected for ‘below the belt’ punch

Texas A&M defensive lineman Shemar Turner was ejected from Saturday’s game vs. Ole Miss due to an especially egregious low blow vs. a Rebels offensive lineman.

The incident took place midway through the third quarter on a play inside the Texas A&M red zone, on which Quinshon Judkins ran for a 4-yard gain. Ole Miss offensive lineman Micah Pettus — a sophomore from Madison — lay on top of Turner and then pushed off of him to stand up.

Turner took exception, rising to his knees and then delivering an uppercut to Pettus’ groin. Turner was hit with a flagrant personal foul and ejected; Ole Miss scored on the next play to go up 28-14.

Here’s video:

Turner, a junior from DeSoto, Texas, had been in on another key play earlier in the game. He blocked a field goal that teammate Jacoby Mathews returned 75 yards for a touchdown to pull the Aggies within 14-7 in the second quarter.
